Spring Lips.

It’s HERE! Technically it’s still Winter but as soon as I noticed a little cluster of flowers that had sprouted up out of nowhere I automatically starting saying ‘it’s spring.’ Spring is one of my favourites (although, I notice I say that about every season.) But blossom is just too pretty. It’s crazy how much a blue sky, a bit of sun and a few flowers can produce so much optimism/happiness/motivation etc. It’s just crazy uplifting, don’t you think?

I’m so excited for light evenings, so it feels acceptable to go and sit in a beer garden after work. For pretty dog walks, iced coffees, mojitos (as they taste so much better when the suns shining), driving with the windows down (!!!!), butterflies (!!!!!!!), and BBQ’s (!!!!!!!!!!!!!) Ah, so much excitement.

I don’t know about you but when Spring comes I automatically start whipping out brighter colours from my wardrobe and I think the lips are begging for a brightening too. Lipstick is obviously a huge staple for most females make-up bags but I think most stick to their usual colours that they feel comfortable with. But now the suns shining and we are slowly coming out of hibernation, it’s a good opportunity to mix things up in the make-up dept.
These are a few high-street lipsticks to brighten up your pout for Spring…

Sleek Matte Me Lip Gloss- Shabby Chic, £4.99.

You can never really go wrong with Sleek Make-up & this lipstick is perfect for Spring. It’s very mauve which is so so pretty and one of the smoothest liquid lipsticks I’ve used. This is probably the darkest I go in Spring time, otherwise I end up feeling a little too Autumnal. Ps. This is so long lasting!

Sleek Power Pump Lip Crayon- Fully Fuschia, £5.49.

Oh another Sleek. If you’re not into Matte lips or Glossy lips, this is the one for you. It’s more like lipstick consistency but the crayon design makes it way easier to apply. I would rarely wear this colour (even though it’s super pretty) but it’s just a little too pink for me. However… it looks fabulous on other people. My sister worked it for a party and side note, it looks so good with a black dress and subtle make-up.

KIKO Pencil Lip Gloss- Pink Glitter, £3.90.
So a KIKO store just opened where I live and lets just say Kiko will for sure be featuring in a lot more posts… the products are lush. I was pretty much testing everything in the store when I came across this gem. The best way I can describe it is a lipliner/lipstick/lip crayon/lipgloss- all into one little stick. It’s not super pigmented which I actually really like because it looks subtle and v natural- like your pout naturally sparkles. Ps. I’ve used this over the top of a bolder matte lip just to jazz it up a bit.

NYX Professional Makeup Round Lipstick- Snow White, £4.00.

I think it’s important to always have a classic, no matter what season it is. For me, red is the go-to. This lipstick has some coral tones to it, which I think gives it that Spring vibe. NYX’s products are always super pigmented which is so appealing when looking for a bright/bold lipstick.

Skincare.

Beauty

I will admit I’m super lazy when it comes to my facial skincare. So… along with trying to take more care of myself this year, that I touched upon in my >>2017<< post. I decided to add skincare to the list. I’ve had a much stricter skincare routine for a few weeks now (which my skin is ~loving~) so I thought I’d share my current fav products.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water.

I had heard so much about this I had to try it. I’m not a fan of waters and toners as I have no faith that they actually do anything. But, when I tried this I loved it. I personally, couldn’t use it to remove all of my make-up but it works perfectly after I’ve cleansed and before I apply moisturiser.

L’Oreal Paris Pure Clay Detox Mask.

The USP for me is the smell. It smells ~insane~. It’s really creamy which makes it feel thick on the skin and like it is actually detoxing. It’s probably one of the few facemasks that leaves my skin with a noticeable change . However… I’m not sure how it would be for sensitive skin as it’s so highly perfumed- I can imagine it would irritate/sting.

faskmask

Yes To Tomatoes Pore Scrub.
I was drawn to this product as it’s so natural with minimum chemicals, which did make me question whether something so natural would work when my skin is being stubborn. But it really works. It’s pretty coarse which really cleans and exfoliates the skin. I use this around every other day to give my skin a deep cleanse. It’s also quite drying, which dries out any breakouts. I have normal-oily skin so it works really well but if you’ve got dry skin, I think it may be too much.

Formula 10.0.6. Moisturiser.

If you have normal to oily skin you will love this. I’ve never been able to use moisturiser before applying make-up, as after a few hours I start shining. However, this works sooo well. The consistency is kinda like a gel rather than a cream, which dries so fast but leaves my skin smooth and soft. I use this both morning and at night.

Yes To Grapefruit Brightening Facial Wipes.

These are by far my favourite out of all of my skincare products. They are ~amazing~. The quality is so impressive- they are huge and so thick! Plus, they smell good and are v natural. I like to use them when I’m feeling super sleepy and need waking up in the morning, or after a facemask. I don’t want to get into the habit of using these too often, as they make my skin feel so refreshed and I wouldn’t want my skin to get used to them and not have the same effect.

3 Nights in Budapest.

Autumn, Life, Travel

Budapest; with it’s grand Fairytale-like buildings, rich history and a unique culture, there is so much to offer. It’s a glowing picturesque city that is beautiful, yet rough round the edges.

Day 1: As our train pulled away from Prague, I was excited to arrive in Budapest. Although, I didn’t really know what to expect. Most cities have their clichés, that most tourists go looking for. However, I hadn’t heard much about Budapest. I certainly hadn’t heard how beautiful it is. After 6 hours on the train passing through Bratislava,  we finally arrived in Budapest!

Day 2: In the morning we were refreshed and ready to explore. The bus station conveniently was on the road next to our hotel so we started off doing a near enough full circle on the bus, passing all of the main landmarks in Budapest. We then got off at Gellért Hill. This is on the Buda side and over looks the Danube river, the view from here is magnificent.

We hopped back over to the Pest side, which is were we caught the river cruise. We were super excited for this, as we had seen how well lit up the city was at night.

p1080275
After the river cruise, we went for dinner in the Pest district. Which is full of lovely restaurants, bars, cafés, shops and hotels. I really loved the vibe there, it was relaxed and sophisticated.

Day 3: We started off exploring City Park as it was minutes from our hotel, there is history and beauty around every corner. The Vajdahunyad Castle and gardens were full of detail.

We then walked around to the Széchenyi Thermal Baths.

Next, we walked to Heroes Square- the spring for the baths is actually located underneath the square! The numerous statues scattered around the square reiterates just how much history the city has.

We also wanted to pay a passing visit to the Jewish Quarter (Budapest has such a strong Jewish heritage) to see the Synagogue. The detail and architecture is remarkable and impossible to capture on camera.

P1080139.JPG

We walked across the Chain Bridge (from Pest to Buda) to take a ride up to Buda Caste.
Everywhere I looked there was something more breath-taking; buildings and rich history. We also, watched the changing of the guards which was really great.

After I’d taken millions of more photos we went back over the bridge for dinner and drinks.

Later on we took a late night walk to see the parliament one last time as seeing it on the river cruise wasn’t enough.

We made sure we were on the other side of the river…

P1080281.JPG
The building is indescribable. My camera definitely couldn’t capture how amazing it really is. The detail is just astounding. At night the glowing lights brings it to life.

We then walked back to Pest, by walking over the Margret bridge and had our last stroll along the Danube river. As you can see the city is just magical by night; it sparkles.

It truly was a wonderful trip and writing this post has only heightened my desire to visit the charming city again.

1. Do you have a beauty budget or do you spend freely?
I’d say around every 3-4 months I go on a splurge. I usually just buy the products I have run out of along with a few new products. I don’t really give myself a budget but, I do watch how much I am spending.

2. What is your beauty pet peeve?
People who do not take their make-up off before bed. I will never understand how people do this.

3. Do you contour and highlight?
Yes I love to but, not everyday. I usually do it at the weekends or a night out.

4. What is your favourite hairstyle?
This is soo hard! On myself, I don’t really have a favourite. I enjoy wearing it up, down and french plaited. On other people, I love slick styles such as; a slick pony tail or a slick neat bun- but I can’t pull them off!

5. Do you have to wear make-up everyday?
No. I do most days, but if I am not doing much or do not feel like it, I wont.

6. Do you believe in the saying ‘less is more’?
100%! I think a lot of people wear too much make-up, me being one of them… But I think a lot of people actually wear more make-up, because they enjoy it (me included) it’s like putting on a nice outfit.

Simplicity.jpg

7. What is your day-to-day make-up look?
A medium coverage of foundation, a brush of loose powder, lightly filled in brows, winged liner, mascara and a nude lip.

8. Thick or thin brows?
Thick alllll the way! I love love love Lily Collin’s and Cara Delevingne’s bushy brows sooo much. My brows are pretty average, I always wish I had bigger brows and always try to grow them out. But they never grow consistently.

9. How often do you have your hair cut?
Every couple of months.

10. Would you ever consider taking make-up classes?
I don’t think so, nowadays there are so many talented YouTubers who put up amazing tutorials, no one really needs to. If I ever want to learn anything I usually just find a tutorial and try it out.

 11. Which celebrity do you think has the best make-up?
Margot Robbie for keeping it natural- she clearly doesn’t need it but when she does wear it she still looks so natural and Olivia Culpo for always looking flawless.

12. Nail polish or no nail polish?
Always nail polish!

13. What is your skincare routine?
Remove my make-up with wipes, usually at like 6pm most days. Then, when I go to shower/bath around 8 or 9pm I use a facial wash/scrub. Then I moisturise an hour before I sleep. I also, do a facemask once or twice a month.

14. What beauty product could you NOT live without?
Moisturiser.

15.What beauty product could you live without?
Blusher- I rarely use it.

Holy Grail Products.

Beauty, Favourites, Life, Tags

Here are 10 products I cannot live without!
(Well I could live without them, but life just wouldn’t be the same…)
Most of the items listed I’ve been using for a long time that I repurchase over and over.

Castor Oil.

Lots of people have never even heard of Castor Oil. It literally is just 100% natural oil, it’s very similar to Argon Oil but it’s a little thicker. I regularly use it on my eyebrows and eyelashes before bed, it helps protect and condition them and makes mine a lot thicker and grow a lot quicker. I have used it on my hair but, I personally prefer Argon Oil as it does take a few washes for the Castor Oil to subside.

Castor

Insect Repellent.

This probably seems like a bit of a weird one. I love fresh air and love to keep my bedroom windows open all year round. I do use this much more in the Summer due to it being the season of insects however, I do find myself using it all year round- mostly for my piece of mind!

Insect

MAC Studio Fix Fluid.

Although I do not use this foundation on a day-to-day basis, I definitely like to know it’s always in my make-up draw. I usually use it when I go for a heavier make-up look, when I am going on a night out, when I want more coverage or to look a little more dewy.

MAC

Dry Shampoo- Brunette.
Dry Shampoo is my best friend on mornings when I am looking for a quick hair fix. I have written before how I don’t like to wash my hair too often and this is a great product I like to use when I want to stick it out that extra day.

Dry

Revolution- Girls On Film Eye Shadow Palette.
I was honestly so shocked when I tried this eye shadow. I actually got it as a gift and was so surprised when I played around with it. There is a mixture of shimmers and mattes and they are all really pigmented and true to colour. Not to mention how cheap the palette is!

Eye

Simple- Kind to Skin Facial Wash.
When washing my face I like to stick to products as natural as possible.
I’m lucky I haven’t got sensitive skin, but I use quite strong perfumed moisturisers so when washing my face, the more simple the product, the more cleaner I feel my face is.
This is a great high-street product that does what it says!

Simple

O.P.I Nail Polish.

For me O.P.I are just the Royals of nail polishes. I’ve tried a lot of and I think these are the only brand that does not chip in the first 2 days of wearing it. The colours are beautiful and they look great.

OPI

Facial Waxing Strips.

I’ve always got some waxing strips tucked away in my beauty draw. I wax my eyebrows every 2-3 months to get rid of the stray hairs. Personally waxing is my favourite method of brow tidying. I hated threading and plucking scares me as I used to over pluck (back in the days I’d wear the wrong colour foundation.)

WAX

TRESemmé Heat Defence Styling Spray.

It’s so so important to protect your hair from heat. I try to let my hair dry naturally as much a possible and I limit myself when using heat. I’ve been using this product for a few years now, every time I use heat I lightly spray this over my hair and if I forget to use it, I really do notice the difference.

Tres

Dove DermaSpa Summer Revived.
/Dove Summer Glow.
This has to be my favourite product from this whole post.
I have been using this product for at least 5 years and love it. I was a little confused when I went to pick some more up. At first, I thought it had been replaced by this but, I’ve seen the Summer Glow is still available. The smell, colour, consistency, result is exactly the same so I’m not too sure why they’ve released this one! It is a tinted moisturiser/gradual tan. I usually use it on my face and have tried so many other moisturisers and tanners but, nothing beats this. I apply a light layer most nights before sleep and leaves me with a really subtle glow after a few hours. I don’t wear fake tan that often anymore and I would actually prefer if this product didn’t contain a tanner. But, there isn’t an equivalent so I use this is my night moisturiser. I have tried so so so many different facial moisturisers (high-street and high-end) but, my skin doesn’t like any of them as much as it likes this. It works so well with my skin, and leaves it soft and revitalised.
